Advanced Pharmacology-I (Theory)
About This Book
The fourteen chapters follow the five units of the prescribed syllabus. The opening unit establishes the quantitative framework of pharmacokinetics and the receptor framework of pharmacodynamics. The second unit develops neurohumoral transmission and the drugs that act on the autonomic and somatic nervous systems. The remaining units treat, in turn, the central nervous system, the cardiovascular system and the blood, and the autacoids.
Each later chapter draws explicitly on the earlier ones, so that the receptor and pharmacokinetic concepts of the first unit are applied again and again. This systematic approach ensures that students develop a deep understanding of how drugs work at the molecular level and how this understanding translates to clinical practice.
