Modern Analytical Techniques (Theory)
About This Book
The textbook Modern Analytical Techniques (Theory) has been developed for students of B.Pharm VII Semester (BP704T) in accordance with the New PCI Syllabus 2026 (NEP 2020). It aims to present the fundamental principles, instrumentation, working mechanisms, applications and significance of modern analytical methods in a clear, systematic and student-friendly manner.
The book covers important analytical techniques used in pharmaceutical analysis, including chromatographic methods, electrophoretic techniques, thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, and spectroscopic methods such as NMR, mass spectrometry and other instrumental approaches relevant to pharmaceutical sciences. Emphasis has been placed on explaining the theoretical concepts alongside the practical relevance of each technique, enabling students to understand not only how an instrument works but also why and where a particular analytical method is employed.
Special attention has been given to the organization of content, clarity of explanations and presentation of important principles to support classroom learning, examination preparation and conceptual understanding. The material helps students develop a systematic approach to selecting and interpreting analytical techniques for the identification, characterization and evaluation of pharmaceutical substances. It may also serve as a useful reference for teachers, researchers and professionals seeking to strengthen their understanding of instrumental analysis.
