Abstract
Infertility is a significant public health concern. As defined by the World Health Organization, infertility is a disease of the male or female reproductive system characterized by the failure to achieve a pregnancy after twelve months or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse, and it may be classified as primary or secondary. Numerous factors affect fertility, including age, diet, exercise, obesity, smoking, excessive alcohol use, and recreational drug use, and successful conception requires the coordinated function of the uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. This chapter reviews the causes of infertility in women, including hormonal imbalances affecting ovulation, pelvic inflammatory disease and sexually transmitted infections that damage the fallopian tubes, endometriosis, and other reproductive disorders. It presents an integrative herbal perspective on reproductive health, examining medicinal plants and lifestyle interventions that may support fertility, and emphasises evidence-based, holistic approaches to the management of infertility and the promotion of reproductive wellness.
