Nutraceuticals and Functional Food for Women's Wellness

Abstract
Women's health is closely linked to proper nutrition, and nutritional needs change throughout different stages of life, including childhood, adolescence, pregnancy, lactation, menopause, and old age. Today, many women experience nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalance, stress, and lifestyle-related disorders that affect their overall health and quality of life. In recent years, nutraceuticals and functional foods have gained considerable attention as natural approaches to support health, prevent diseases, and improve well-being. This review highlights the importance of nutraceuticals and functional foods in promoting women's wellness. It discusses the nutritional requirements of women across different life stages and explains the role of essential nutrients, functional foods, herbal nutraceuticals, probiotics, and dietary supplements in maintaining overall health. The review also summarizes the potential benefits of nutraceuticals in managing common women's health conditions such as iron-deficiency anemia, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, osteoporosis, pregnancy-related nutritional deficiencies, and menopausal symptoms. In addition, it explores the role of the gut microbiome, safety considerations, global regulatory guidelines, and the rapidly growing nutraceutical market, alongside emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, precision nutrition, nanotechnology, wearable devices, and personalized supplements.
