Green Nanotechnology: Plant-Mediated Nanoparticles in Women's Health

Abstract
Green nanotechnology is an eco-friendly approach for synthesizing nanoparticles using natural plant extracts instead of harmful chemicals. Plant-derived nanoparticles are gaining significant attention because they are biocompatible, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable. The phytochemicals present in medicinal plants act as natural reducing and stabilizing agents during nanoparticle synthesis, and the resulting nanoparticles exhibit excellent antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties. In women's healthcare, plant-mediated nanoparticles have shown promising applications in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, and menopausal disorders. Compared to conventional therapies, they improve drug delivery, enhance bioavailability, reduce toxicity, and provide targeted therapeutic effects. This chapter highlights the principles of green nanotechnology, methods of plant-mediated nanoparticle synthesis, characterization techniques, applications in women's health, safety concerns, and future prospects.
