Abstract

Herbal medicine has been an integral part of healthcare systems for centuries, offering a rich source of natural compounds with significant therapeutic potential. However, the growing complexity of chronic diseases and the increasing variability in patient responses have highlighted the need for more precise and evidence-based treatment strategies. Precision medicine, supported by advances in artificial intelligence (AI), big data analytics, genomics, and multi-omics technologies, is transforming healthcare by enabling personalized diagnosis and treatment. The integration of these technologies with herbal therapeutics has created new opportunities for identifying bioactive phytochemicals, predicting therapeutic responses, optimizing herbal formulations, and improving patient safety. AI-driven approaches such as machine learning, molecular docking, predictive analytics, and network pharmacology are accelerating herbal drug discovery while reducing time and cost. This chapter discusses the evolving role of AI and data-driven technologies in herbal therapeutics, emphasizing their contribution to precision medicine, and highlights recent advancements, current challenges, ethical considerations, and future prospects for developing evidence-based, personalized herbal healthcare.
